What You Will Learn in the Apex Medical Billing Course
The Medical Billing course includes materials from the Current Procedural Terminology (CPT®) Professional Edition code book, International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Revision, Clinical Modification (ICD-10-CM) Code book and the Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) Level II Professional code book. Students in this program will learn by way of reading assignments, video/audio lectures, practice exercises, and much more! Topics include studying the codes for ICD-10-CM, CPT® Coding and HCPCS Coding, completing claims forms, identifying why claims are accepted or rejected, the required medical necessity to validate a claim and more.
Information taught throughout the program will help prepare you for your final exam and allow you to sit for your Certified Professional Biller exam. With this designated AAPC credential, graduates from Apex Career School are considered certified professionals which increases the potential to be hired in the medical industry.

How long is the Medical Billing Course
This course is meant to be completed within a 9-month period. Apex allows for an additional 3 months grace period, which allows 12 full months to complete your coursework. Monthly course extensions may be purchased.
Student Support
After you enroll in our Medical Billing Course, you will be assigned a Certified Professional Biller (CPB) instructor and receive their contact information. Our CPB instructors have demonstrated at least five years’ experience in the coding and reimbursement/billing related fields. They are a current Certified Professional Biller, with a good standing certification, and have submitted two letters of recommendations, completed and passed an Instructor Training Course and maintain their approval through submitting mandatory Continuing Teaching Units (CTUs). Your CPB instructor will be responsible for grading your exams and be there to assist you throughout your studies. You will be able to contact them directly if you need assistance or have questions.

The CPB exam vouchers you receive are valid for 12 months from date of purchase, giving you plenty of time after completion of your course, to study and review before taking the Certified Professional Biller (CPB®) certification exam from the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC). Successfully passing the exam will award you the official CPB credentials, which in turn may aid your successful job placement as well as increasing earning potential over other medical billers who do not tout the same credentials.
